Advanced Practicum and Fourth Special Lecture (28th June 2025)

Jul 16, 2025

On 28th June 2025, the Advanced Practicum and the fourth Special Lecture were held at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.

Advanced practicum is a unique opportunity for JDPSR’s students to share their research progress and seek feedback from participating professors and students. The advanced practicum session consisted of presentations by two students (Nseng and Maya) who shared their results of field trips and the research progress. Each student presented for twenty minutes, followed by a ten-minute Q&A session. This session provided chances for students to reflect on their progress during this semester and receive critical feedback from the participants.

In the afternoon, a special lecture was delivered by Prof. Yo Ishigaki (The University of Electro-Communications). The focus of the lecture was on the business application of research outcomes. According to Prof. Ishigaki, researchers work hard on their research but often do not realise the commercial aspects of their research. In his lecture, he suggested the importance of entrepreneurial thinking. He demonstrated the potential of commercialising research outcomes with vivid examples. Dr. Kota Hara also accompanied Prof. Ishigaki during the lecture and shared his experience of building commercial products using AI.

The Special Lecture was further followed by a Workshop, a presentation and a discussion session by a student. The day was an excellent wrap-up for this Spring semester for students and faculty members. We are looking forward to gathering again in October with progress during this Summer.
