Event Report : 4th Annual Conference
Feb 27, 2026
On February 14th, 2026, the Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research (JDPSR) held the 4th annual conference at the University of Electro-Communications (UEC) and approximately 30 people gathered from the three member universities this time.
After the opening remarks from Professor Takeuchi (TUFS), Lilian (UEC) presented on her paper about the effective pool boiling heat transfer.
Subsequently, 7 doctoral D1 and D2 students briefly reported their research progress, which was followed by active discussions and recommendations from audiences.
At the end of the conference, there was a special session named “Charting the Career Path,” and two alumni from this program, Dr. Kuroda and Dr. Baoligao, shared their experiences through the doctoral program and careers, to guide the current students to possible future path before and after getting doctoral degree, from their own professional experiences in both industry and academia.
Right after closing this conference, participants enjoyed a networking dinner in a relaxed atmosphere and shared ideas and thoughts frankly.
This program is highly inter-disciplined and therefore, the presentations cover several academic domains from natural science to social science. For both presenters and audiences, this conference was valuable and insightful to recognize the importance of cross-disciplinary interactions although presenting complicated topics in accessible language to the people in different academic disciplines remains a challenge for all presenters. This program keeps fostering collaborations and values to contribute to a sustainable society.
